Do you need the foot pod to track your distance outdoors with the garmin forerunner 305 ?
I’m looking at getting a garmin forerunner 305 and I was wondering if I needed to get the foot pod to track my distance when I’m outside, or does it just run off of GPS?

You don’t need the foot pod to run outside with the Garmin. I have a 305 and it tracks my runs outside just fine. It does take a few seconds to find satellites but that’s the only issue I’ve had. When I run indoors I use the time/pace setting or I count laps with the lap counter. That works great. Have fun, Garmin connect gives you loads of data!
